iPhone Duo review: Apple's first foldable phone

iPhone Duo review: Apple's first foldable phone

Apple's first foldable iPhone is called iPhone Duo. The 9to5Mac editorial team tested it for a week and, according to its assessment, it is the biggest change to the iPhone's form factor in almost twenty years. The device folds like a notebook and, once opened, turns into something resembling an iPad mini. Sales are set to begin on 23 October 2026.

iPhone Duo review: two screens in one body

The outer display has a diagonal of 5.4 inches and an aspect ratio of 1.4:1, while the inner panel measures 7.6 inches. When closed, the phone measures 117.8 mm in height and 84.1 mm in width, so in size it matches a passport. It is 11.3 mm thick, and 5.2 mm once opened. It weighs 254 grams.

The frame is made of Grade 5 titanium with a polished finish, and IP68 rating promises dust and water resistance. The inner display is covered by a matte nano-texture that, among other things, reduces glare. According to 9to5Mac, the crease is not visible during normal use and only becomes more noticeable in strong light on a dark image. CNET notes that it is visible at certain angles and lighting conditions.

Touch ID, A20 Pro chip and four cameras

With the Duo, Apple has said goodbye to Face ID. The phone is unlocked by a fingerprint reader in the side button, and unlocking via Apple Watch is also available. Inside is the A20 Pro chip. According to 9to5Mac, the hinge has more than 100 components and holds the phone at various angles. The camera setup consists of a main sensor, a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide, a 12MP Center Stage on the outer display and a FaceTime camera hidden under the inner screen.

Pricing starts at $1,999 for the 256 GB version, rising to $3,199 for 2 TB. According to CNET, pre-orders sold out almost immediately.
